Welcome to my old school blog post in which I literally web-log what I did today:

~ locked out of St. Mary’s Cathedral ~

After writing the most recent installment of my jobs I’ve had series among other introspections, I felt the need to hike up to Cathedral Hill in San Fransisco. Unfortunately, St. Mary’s Cathedral was closed for the holiday. I thought it might be, but figured I should surrender my need for crossed t’s and dotted i’s and just go with the flow. Interestingly, I had a very minute experience of what it must have been like for unauthorized persons to feel the need to enter the temple and be forbidden. I really felt like I could have used the cool, quiet solitude that welcomed me after half day shifts at Catholic Charities…almost a whole year go.

I ended up sitting outside for just a little bit watching cherry blossom petals rain in the wind, then dipped out after a lingering cop car and passing vagabonds made me uncomfortable enough to get going.

There’s a coffee shop on Van Ness and Eddy that I used to stop by every once in a while, slightly resenting the fact that I was on my way to work and couldn’t just sit and stare and sip, so I popped on over and opted for the “Green Goddess” smoothie. Y’all, that thing was so dang good. For $5.85, you too can be refreshed by a glorious blend of kale, spinach, celery, cucumber and pineapple. I couldn’t really tell if my palate has dramatically changed or if they added far more sugar than they should have, but I drank the whole thiiing.

TBH, I was still kinda bummed about the Cathedral just because I had in my head this certain idea of being able to sit still and quiet in a huge, ornate building at least nominally dedicated to God. But that spatial disappointment brought to light some valuable things to consider. I ended up chucking Spiro the deuce after probs like 40 minutes and just headed back to home to finish a song I’d been working on.

In other news, my co-worker and I showed up twinning last week.

shoutout to the homie, Marie!!

Happy almost-Spring
