Too often this winter I have chosen sleep over early morning fellowship with God. This morning, His invitation was strong and clear with direction. I was gifted money from my godmother to have a meal out on her and woke up knowing I needed to leave my room by 6:30 am. As a Caribou employee, I get discounts on food and drink at any location, so I traipsed over to Chapel Hill to process my life. As per usual, {thanks in part I’m sure to my oversized Carolina sweatshirt} I was assumed to be a college student, and enjoyed the temporary timelessness of a quiet table facing big windows. I also enjoyed my current Caribou faves: ham, egg, & swiss croissant; coffee cake; and a dark-chocolate almond milk mocha with half a shot of hazelnut. Bless.

I wasn’t planning on changing my blog again, but there were a few things here and there that seemed to need some tweaking . . . whole entire moving forward and not clinging to previous seasons. I’m quite pleased with the way the updates and my ‘about me’ page turned out . . .

I was planning on sharing a couple of songs this weekend, and shot from my caffeinated hip on a few takes of a video.
What I ended up with is ‘honest work,’ as the meme goes, ha.

Playing it back, I should’ve kept the first vibe going with Once Upon A Pearl . . .
a lesson I’m learning about perseverance and perception.

WINTER

YOU GIVE THE GIFT OF REJOICE THROUGH THE MUNDANE • IN YOU THERE IS PLENTIFUL REDEMPTION TO HEAL OUR INIQUITIES AND PAIN • OH YOUR PRESENCE DELIGHTS US WHEN HOPE’S FEELING STRAINED • YOUR PATIENCE DIRECTS US INTO THE WAY YOU MAKE
OH SING TO HIM, YE NATIONS – SHOUT HIS PRAISE! PUBLISH THE NAME OF THE ONE BY WHOM THE DEAD ARE RAISED
OUR EYES HAVE BEHELD YOUR GLORY AND STRENGTH • YOUR EAR IS FAMILIAR WITH EVERY PRAYER THAT SEARS OUR LIPS • WE BELIEVE YOU ARE LISTENING, WE BELIEVE YOU ARE KIND • WHEN SORROWS ENGULF US, WE SURRENDER OUR ANXIOUS MINDS
EACH DAY, PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS THAT HE SAVES! WINTER IS ONLY A SEASON AND SEASONS CHANGE
YOU SPEAK PEACE TO YOUR PEOPLE • YOUR SALVATION IS NEAR • WE ARE LONGING FOR HARVEST, FOR THE DAY WHEN OUR BOUNTY KNOWS ITS YIELD • OH WON’T YOU REVIVE US, RESTORE US AGAIN • WE ARE FIXING OUR GAZE ON THE ONE WHO HAS SWALLOWED DEATH AND SIN
UNTIL THE DAY WE SEE YOU FACE TO FACE, EVERY NATION WILL HEAR OUR CLAIM – GOD YOU REIGN!
UNTIL ONLY WHAT’S UNSHAKEABLE REMAINS, WE WILL TREASURE YOUR LIGHT IN THESE JARS OF CLAY 🐪

ONCE UPON A PEARL

ONCE UPON A JOURNEY A RICH RULER CAME TO KNEEL – ASKING OF THE LORD, ‘GOOD TEACHER, AM I IN GOD’S WILL? WHAT MUST I DO TO INHERIT LIFE?’
OH, BUT EVERYTHING HE OWNED WAS TOO GREAT A PRICE
ONCE UPON A PEARL THERE WAS A MAN WHO FOUND A FIELD • EVERYTHING HE OWNED, HE SOWED TO REAP WHAT IT WOULD YIELD • AND SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD
ONE DAY, LITTLE CHILDREN CAME TO JESUS FOR HIS GRACE • AND THE LORD’S DISCIPLES TRIED TO SCRAM THEM ALL AWAY
BUT TO SUCH BELONGS THE KINGDOM OF FAITH
ONE DAY IN THE KINGDOM WHEN THE MASTER SERVES HIS FEAST, HE WILL GIRD HIMSELF AND BE THE LAST TO SIT AND EAT • LOVE WILL NEVER CEASE TO FEED HIS SHEEP
SO SHALL BECOME THE GREATEST WHO WOULD BE LEAST 🐪

but may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

. . . which was no doubt inspired by the many scriptural encouragements from God that He is with us and that
we should take heart.

So, take heart.

  1. I love your music so so much! All the elements of it- your voice, the ukelele, the lyrics, the message, everything!- just fit together perfectly. God has blessed you with such a gift and I look forward to hearing more!
