God has strong words for the restless. He sternly rebukes their unbelief. Breaches of the sabbath earn death as a consequence. I struggle. Rest is an act of the will. Refusing to live & walk by faith – wanting God to exempt me or give me some other way is rebellion.

{Hebrews, Jeremiah}

Sometimes it feels like seeking the Kingdom is killing me. {It is crucifying my flesh, which is a good thing.} But it’s because I haven’t learned the basics, or it’s when I’m not doing them . . . seeking the Kingdom is not just words and verses, but *actual* rest.

In speaking of humility and service, Jesus says – “If you know these things, blessed are are you if you do them.| John 13:17

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

James 1:22-25
